Vision Script - The Where
Camp Wakonda's Vision Script points toward
where are we going as an organization.
where are we going as an organization.
With God’s help, we envision the following future by 2025:
1. Our staff and board are dedicated to spiritual growth in our campers and each other.
2. All our program offerings connect wonder, faith, nature, and fun.
3. We focus on simplicity to share faith in God with the broader world.
4. As a result, we are developing a lived faith; in children, youth, and adults.

Spiritual Growth
|
a. Our staff is hired for their willingness to grow spiritually and their desire to help children learn about and experience God.
b. Every board member knows our core ideology, can articulate it to others and knows how they fit into the larger picture. c. Our campers can express at least one thing they learned about God and one way they experienced God by the end of their stay at camp. d. We create or adapt curricula to enable campers and guests to intentionally experience God. e. We actively look to develop spaces for hands-on faith and learning. f. We share about God’s love and grace with all our guests at Wakonda. |
Programs of Wonder, Faith, Nature, & Fun |
a. We strive to grow all guests as disciples and have a system in place to evaluate our effectiveness.
b. We intend for camp to be a mixture of sanctuary and playground (even for adults!). c. Our board seeks out where other camps and Christian groups effectively connect wonder, faith, nature, and fun, with the goal of adapting ideas to Wakonda’s setting & environment. d. Our staff strives to incorporate these aspects into every part of the camp day. e. We employ guest leaders (and compensate them fairly) to connect camp life to these ideas. f. We share with all campers that these aspects serve to connect them with God and can also happen in everyday life. |
Simple Sharing
|
a. Staff members intentionally get to know each camper individually.
b. We train our staff in fostering small communities of care. c. We keep our facilities simple so that campers and guests can focus on relational experiences in God’s creation. d. Our digital and print marketing communicate that God is the source and center of the joy and delight of camp experiences. e. Our handling of finances reflects good stewardship of the resources with which we have been blessed. f. Our board meetings provide each board member with recent, simple stories of how God is at work through Wakonda, which they then tell others. g. Our alumni and donors can explain at least one way that Wakonda continues to impact the world. |
Developing
|
a. We actively seek to train campers and staff for lives of ministry.
b. Campers and staff are connected to the Wakonda community beyond their experience at camp. c. Our board and year-round staff keep in contact with camper families and staff members to offer ongoing care, support, and prayer. |
