Director of Outdoor Ministries
Zack is the Director of Outdoor Ministries at Camp Wakonda. He and his family started
their time here in the summer of 2023. Zack brought 20 years of experience working in camps.
He has worked in the following areas in other camps: Director, Assistant Director, environmental
education, ropes courses and team building, out trips (whitewater canoeing, caving, rock
climbing, backpacking), hospitality/guest relations, maintenance departments and kitchens.
He has also developed a new camp, created and operated his own Environmental Education
Business, consulted for other camps and worked in wilderness therapy for troubled teens.
Zack’s wife Liz has her own history with Camp Wakonda. She worked here as a counselor and
Assistant Director from 2002 to 2007. She brought Zack to the 50th reunion, where she
introduced him to Dick Barnard and some of the people she knew and worked with at Camp
Wakonda.
Zack and Liz were both thrilled to have the opportunity to come back to Wakonda. They said that
it felt like they were coming home when they moved here. Their three kids love the camp
experience and look forward to groups and campers coming back to visit again.
