Camp Wakonda's Core Values are about

Seeking Wonder

We seek wonder
​in all circumstances of life. 

     ​​"The heavens declare the glory of God; the skies proclaim the work of his hands." (Psalm 19:1; NIV)

Community of Care

We seek to create a community
​that cares for each other.

     ​​​"'Teacher, which commandment in the law is the greatest?' He said to him, 'You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your mind. This is the greatest and first commandment. And a second is like it: You shall love your neighbor as yourself'" (Matthew 22:34-39; NRSV)

Peacemaking

We seek to encourage peace in and through relationships

     ​​​"The fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control" (Gal. 5:22-23a; NRSV)

Growing Faith

We seek to mutually grow in our understanding and following after God, as revealed in Jesus Christ and the witness of Scripture.

     ​​​"A sower went out to sow his seed; and as he sowed, some fell on the path and was trampled on, and the birds of the air ate it up. Some fell on the rock; and as it grew up, it withered for lack of moisture. Some fell among thorns, and the thorns grew with it and choked it. Some fell into good soil, and when it grew, it produced a hundredfold" (Luke 8:4-8; NRSV)

Grounded in Simplicity
We desire to follow God in simplicity and humility.

     ​​"Martha, Martha, you are worried and distracted by many things; there is need of only one thing. Mary has chosen the better part, which will not be taken away from her" (Luke 10:41-42; NRSV)
